Start with the child
I wanted academic practice to make room for curiosity, resilience and kindness. That changes the product brief: a wrong answer becomes something to explore, a child can ask for help, and encouragement comes from the attempt itself. Ahkoo’s 22 principles give me a concrete foundation for deciding how the experience should respond.

Story comes first: an illustration from Ahkoo’s learning world.
Make the interaction part of the learning
I built the initial app around an iPad experience and developed a direction for voice, touch and drawing. The lesson model connects a story to reflection, skill practice, application and celebration. English and Spanish belong in the experience from the beginning. The aim is to let children participate before independent reading becomes a prerequisite.
Build with care, prove it in practice
I’m developing the learning experience alongside its character, visual world and product website. A gated app lets the work evolve through review and device testing; the public site explains the approach. The learning model is a design commitment, with parents remaining in charge. Educational outcomes still need to be established through actual use.
